Outdoor Spring Cleaning

03 May @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

TBY Tikkun Olam: Fixing the World, Starting Here n At the request of Rabbi Rutberg and Jerry, a small group of TBY members have formed a Tikkun Olam Committee chaired by Joan and Syl Sobel. The committee will organize public service activities that TBY members can perform as a group, assist other TBY committees with similar activities, and serve as a clearinghouse of local service activities that TBY members may want to participate in. n The first Tikkun Olam event will occur on Friday night, May 1, at the conclusion of Shabbat services. Ms. Berkleigh Diaz of Worcester Youth and Family Counseling Services will describe their interest in volunteers for once-a-month “hands on” activities with youths from grades 1-12. These activities can include mentoring, tutoring, teaching a cooking, baking, crafting or other kind of class, and more. Come join and learn about ways to share your hobbies and expertise with young people in need. n On Sunday, May 3, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tikkun Olamers will assist the Religious School students in their Mitzvah Day Spring Cleanup of the grounds around Temple Bat Yam. Adults will team with students to help with weeding, raking, trimming, and generally sprucing up the grounds – fixing the world, starting at home. Bring gloves and yard tools, including power trimmers if you got them. There will be light refreshments, too. n Want to join the committee? Got ideas? Let us know! sjmisobel@verizon.net
